Always thought this looked cool and have been curious about what this was called and pros and cons of it. I noticed it mostly on road bikes sp im guessing its not as strong as traditional welds but i think it was also on a few older bmx bikes so maybe not?

Anyway just curious as the pros and cons of building frames like this.

It's a lugged construction.

Lugged and I wouldn't for freestyle bmx. Maybe some unique gussets would work well though.
