I've been looking for a set of wheels for a little while. My previous set was OK but not great. I was running s 13/30 gear ratio on a flip flop hub. The new set I bought is an older gen Odyssey Hazard lites. With Odyssey hubs. The rear is flip flop and comes with a 14t freewheel. 13 is bad enough but I am somewhat used to it. I have tried and tried and I can't get my 13 tooth freewheel off my old rim. However I was wondering if it possible to run smaller gearing on the other side of a flip flop hub? The Odysseys are in great shape and only cost me $45 so I am just gonna run em. 11 tooth would be nice but I guess I will still run 13 if I have to.. what kind of gearing does the other side take? Still kinda new..

I think 13t is the smallest freewheel you can get you'd have to get a cassette to get anything smaller

Can I just get a cassette and put it on or will I have to replace the whole hub

13 IS the smallest you can go. your gearing feels odd as typically a 36 goes with a 13.

You will need a new hub to go any smaller.

Those freewheels can explode without much warning, the tiny bearings cannot handle a ton of stress. Just be warned.

If you have 100 bucks, get a Haro Hyno rear wheel, (or just invest in a decent cassette hub) and rebuild the wheel when you can.

Running that gear ratio means no speed for you though.

You might wanna check craigslist or ebay sometimes they have some decent cassette hubs for sale or sometimes they have complete wheels if you don't wanna have to lace the hub to your rim.

Buy a cassette and run 30 to 9 when your freewheel shits the bed
