why cant some rims be used with brakes?

Some rims like the shadow Orbis say they are for a front rim or brakeless rear rim. Was wondering what is different about a brakeless rim than a one that can be used with brakes.

The rims are rounded so the brake pads don't fit.

the difference is one you can use breaks and the other you can't.

You didn't answer the question and you spelt brake wrong.

It's because the rims are rounded so the pad barely touches the rim.
