It's preference, you can. But if your running two different rims, they have different widths.
well technically yes its okay, long as their both the same size. yeah.
personally though, I like having mine be the same, i run Hazard lites front and back

I wouldn't risk it if I were you. Always the chance your bike might break.

Doesn't matter at all but some people like running the same wheels . Almost like how you'd want to ride the same pair of grips and not one brand one side and the other a different one .
You can always have a coaster / a cassette wheel if you wanted

My front wheel is a bsd hub laced to an odyssey rim, and my back wheel is an éclat hub laced to a stranger rim. They don't need to match at all!
No company has ever made a rim designed specifically for the front wheel in the istory of BMX. That would be madness
er i distinctly remember shadow (i think) making a "Front Only" rim... lol

LIES!
Excellent use of photoshop. You almost had me with that. Why would a company make front wheel specific rims, then they wouldn't match.

Shocks wouldn't fit a BMX headtube and no 24" wheel would fit a BMX fork unless designed too.
Unless you managed to grab a 24" BMX rigid fork and put it on a 20" frame and rolled chopper style , good try bud

Literally anything with a 1 1/8th steer tube would fit in the head tube. The fork length would be the biggest challenge, causing the bike to be hard to ride.

Whoa, put your brakes on there, you little fella.
Accusing good people of being liars... Tst tst tst...
People do make front specific rims, and they actually do exist.
It's not always about cosmetics, will that look nice, that won't look proper, blahblahblah. Form follows function, I hope you know what that truly means.
The reason why they make front specific rims is for weight, yes, weight. A front rim also does not need to counter brake forces as the rear, as there are none in the front (except for those flatland dudes).
A rear rim can be used on both front and rear, but a front tim cannot be used at the rear.
It will take too long to explain, here is a link. With your finger, slide your mouse over it and click. It's not a photoshopped pic or whatever you can dream of, it is a webpage filled with text.

i hope you feel like a glorified dumbass, you keep posting dumb shit and people keep proving you wrong.
SHOCKS WONT FIT last time i checked shocks arent part of the steerer tube, as long as the tube is the same diameter youre good to go.
but for the others it was akward riding it so sketchy everything was an almost manual lol

A front rim can be used in the back. Brakeless. A TON of riders use "front specific" rims in the rear because they don't run brakes, so no pads hit the rim.

Wasn't the Fly rim marketed as front only as well because of all the holes in it? I know people used them in the rear too, but all it did was save 1oz compared to others and made it way weaker structurally. And I don't really see how brakes would affect it as long as the sidewall wasn't paper thin. Maybe on aero style rims since there's hardly any contact area for the pad, but I used to run one on the rear of one of my old race bikes and never had a problem other than the pad wearing crooked. I wouldn't recommend it for anything other than racing tho as they more than likely wouldn't survive a stairset or some sort of big drop
