Hey just looking for any advice. I'm going to build my first bmx bike. I dont really know what type if frame and things I need for a decent first build. Im kind of on a budget I would like to keep it around the $300 dollar range total. Its been a few years since I've been on a bmx. Just looking to ride and get more active. Also the main reason I'm need some advice is I'm a bigger guy and don't know what type of frame or wheel size I should get I hear handle bars can make a difference to. Every bike I've tried to ride that is already put together is too small. I'm about 6'1 and 265 to 270lb. Please help me out and steer me in the ride direction as to what kind of bmx would work for me.

Theres no way you can build a custom bike for $300, its hard enough for $1300. If you mean %100 custom that is. I hate to say but its gonna be hard for you to even buy a new complete for $300.

Try getting a complete with a TT around 21 (either 21 or more, But not less), with a top load stem.

Sell your handlebar and your brake hardware.

With that money, buy a new bar, something with 9, 9.5, or even 10 inch rise with 30 degrees width.

Then, I challenge you to say that the bike is small...

I have also the same height as you. I ride a 21 inch top tube WTP Crysis (check out the bike check) with a 9 inch rise bar. Seriously, when that frame breaks, I am getting a 21.5 from S&M or Kink. And 9.5 bars. Still, I am already comfortable with my current set up.

Or, even better, buy a shit bike, ride the hell out of it until the frame breaks. Buy a new, longer frame and taller bars.

Because to go custom means to go with BIG figures above 1000..........

It doesn't matter where a train goes. It's decidin' to get on that does.

You wont be able to build one for 300 even with crappy parts... you would be better off getting a good used bike or spending a bit more and getting a prebuilt bike.
as for the frame size get a 21 inch, would be good because im 6,1" myself.
get 20 inch wheels, the tyres can be ur choice but i suggest something like a 2.25 or 2.3 in the front and a 2.1 in the back.
the bars maybe a 8.75 or 9 inch rise with 28.5 or 29 inch wide.
I was surprised how much custom bikes are to make! i tried to make it as cheap as possible online with half decent parts and it equaled to $980.
good luck man.
