So here i am. Just pedaling away and then boom, my pedal catches really hard,makes a popping noise, and then my chain is either really loose or just falls off the back and the tire rubs on the frame. I have a Haro Downtown. I try and make my chain tighter, same thing happens. Looser? same thing happens. I dont know whats going on and its really annoying because it does this every time. Please help me.

hey buddy sounds lilke your back wheel is slipping on you thus causing your chain to become loose? This could also be a bent sprocket or bent spindle, everytime you pedak around the sprocket if bent will cause the chain to pop off, but the way you describbe it it sounds more like your real wheel is moving forward. there is a few things you can do to help with this. one is to shorten up your chain and slam the axle all the way forward in the drop out, another is to get a chain tensioner either one or two will do the trick usual if you put one run it on the drive side this will keep that back wheel in place and you chain tight. check out DANSCOMP for them Demolition makes a nice one. if this dosnt help please feel free to ask. im an ASE certified automobile tech and have built many bmx bikes and custom cars over the years.
