I just built up a new s&m atf and fitted an odyssey evo 2 brake. But I'm having some problems. I'm a newb when it comes to these brakes as I haven't ridden bmx for over 10 years.

It seems like the frame is too wide, or the brake arms aren't bent enough so the cable hooks are hitting each other and the brakes get stuck before the brake hits the rim.
Here's how they look.

But I think they should look more like this.

What am I doing wrong? Or are these brakes just not right for my frame?
Cheers guys

looks to me like you just maybe need to have your cable a lil bit longer. and that's if it isnt just adjusting them so that theyre not so far off the rim...

just take it to an lbs (local bike shop) to take care of. and watch him while he does it. those are the best two things I could think of

If i had the cable longer then the pads would be even further from the rim. The issue is the brakes are pulling too far before they even touch the rim so the ends of the brake arms, where the cables hook in, are hitting each other.

Try adjusting the springs on the brakes

this. like I said, just adjust them.

and if you don't know how to, take it to a shop, and watch and learn

A shop did look at them. And basically the frame is too wide.
The problem is exactly opposite to what you are saying. Tensioning the springs more would move the pads even further from the rim. And loosening the cable would make it even worse.
I've put fatter spacers on the pads and it's now usable without jamming up completely.
But basically I need to find a different brake that works better for wide frames.
