It doesn't matter where a train goes. It's decidin' to get on that does.

Practice practice practice, it would have taken me way less time to learn if I had dedicated more time to learning them

It is a normal 180 problem. Everybody has to go thru it.

I suggest to carve aggressively like you want to squash an insect.

Bulge up your muscles and go low on the bike.

Count 1, 2, 3 , shout "SEND IT!!!" and pop off the bike.

DOnt forget to LOOK AT YOUR LANDING and also to pull that rear end into your ass.

The higher the rear end, the better it will be for you.

Try it out, mate. Try, retry, repeat.

Currently in the middle of learning 180's. I can land quite a few every session but I'm still very inconsistent and can't go very fast yet. There's definitely a lot more nuance than just the turn your head thing.

Two things i noticed this past week that helped alot:

1) When you carve, try to almost go for a slight allyoop 180. I was watching this snowboard video here and noticed the guy carves but takes off the jump in a straight trajectory:

&t=2m52s

This allows you to really pop hard out of your carve and works better when you have more speed. Before, I was swerving way too much to the right and this would make the bike either slide out or g-turn. When you get the carve this way, the 180 should feel really smooth.

2) Try to get to 180 with almost no tuck at all. Just stay in that vertical j hop (bars to the thighs) position. Like you're going for a 180 to backwards manual landing back wheel heavy but just don't balance out the manual. And try to get some decent height out of this too. Not sure why, but this right now is actually easier than 180ing with a full tuck. Then from there try to work in the tuck. It's almost like how you see people doing 360 pivots before a proper 360 with tuck. I think this makes sure you're getting a proper amount of vertical height at the beginning and it makes you feel more confident cause you know you don't need the tuck to make it all the way to 180.

Just get out there and ride. SEND IT. don't do it till you get it right, do it till you can't get it wrong.
