Hello everyone.

I ride left foot forward and I have a question.

For some reason, when I roll out of my 180s, I have my right foot forward. It feels natural to me but I my friend said that I am supposed to roll out with my feet how they would be at the start of the 180 (left foot forward).

I am struggling to full-cab and half-cab due to my feet being the opposite way round and I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions. How do you guys usually roll out?

Also, do you recommend that I learn roll-outs again with the correct footing? I used to roll out the opposite way to the way I spun but I learnt how to roll out both ways after that so I am dedicated to correcting the small things.

Thanks smile

never heard of anyone doing that consistently. I do it by accident sometimes. Id relearn em because id imagine thatd make half cabs hard. It feels so awkward riding switch footed for me

Yeah, it definitely makes half cabs a lot harder due to my feet being switched, i'm finding it so hard to relearn though haha

haha i do that very consistently, its a bad habit for me, sometimes i wont wanna move my legs much for the fakie and my body turns whatever way my feet are and i go around fine. i can cut out both ways too haha if im doing them fast, i go and do them the right way, no indian giver, and sometimes, idk why, but i straight up do em indian giver, in a smooth way too lol its strange and i can half cab both ways. This actually helped me learn switch footed 180s, oppo 180s, and switch footed oppo 180s. haha so its all good!

Just reset your footing for whatever trick youre doing. Your left foot is your hop foot even though your right is dominant. No big deal, I'm the same way. It shouldn't be that hard to get back into your comfy hop position. Familiarize yourself more with your hop position to be able to geti into it automatically.

I recommend practicing fakie hops consistently. As you pedal back, train yourself to stop left forward for hops, then quikly switching right forward to roll our of it. All about developing the feel for it so that you have more control.

Yeah, I have been practicing them a lot lately, fortunately for me there is a perfect bank at my local for me to try them on. Starting to get them although when I 180 at speed I still instinctively roll-out switched footed aha hopefully i'll have them soon then I can move on to full-cabs.

Okay I have eventually learnt how to roll-out with my correct footing however i'm having another problem.

I've heard that I'm not supposed to rely on crank pressure to roll-out of my fakie. My friends all roll-out as they back peddle and don't use crank pressure to get them around and it looks really smooth and clean. For some reason, when I roll out, I seem to rely on crank pressure to get me around, almost as if i do a very small wheelie.

What do you recommend I should do?

Try riding chainless or with a coaster if possible. I learned to roll out my opposite way first for some reason and I relied on pedal pressure to get me around. Once I got on a coaster I learned to actually pivot on the back wheel which takes some getting used to but will make u better. As long as u can fakie on a cassette then I recommend a coaster or chainless to improve ur control

Just keep riding your bike. The more you learn, the easier it is to learn more stuff. Eventually you'll learn to roll out both ways and all kinds of stuff. Just ride and keep learning.

There is no right or wrong way. If you want rules, go play football or something. smile

I had a thread on this as well. I just noticed it when I first started. I can put pedal pressure with my non-dominant foot now but it's hard to half cab or full cab unless I do an oppo rollout since rolling out opposite forces your feet to put pressure on your non-dominant foot. I still do switch-footed half cabs and almost full cabs for regular rollout but I do them like this.
