I just got my old rim back off one of my friends and the hub seems too loose. The cassette slides on the axel like it's not on tight enought my friend said just to tighten something on it but wasn't that specific. I was just wondering exactly how i can fix it?

Photo
when the axel is loose tighten the left side cone nuts.
is the driver is loose, tighten the drive side.

Just enough so its not wobbling. not tight tight. you could crush the bearings

Is that a Slatplus trapeze FC/cassette hub? Looks so much like mine...

What I do is, if I feel a bit of play, tighten both of the nuts, but only snuggingly, using my hands to get the desired result and getting a wrench and just...do...a...1/10000000000000000000 turn.....

The advice is good, will keep that in my mind tho.

It doesn't matter where a train goes. It's decidin' to get on that does.
