howd you guys get over the fear of throwing the bars

Whenever I attempt to barspin I just can't take my hands off the bars. I used to be able to throw half bars on my Sunday colors a couple years back (24.5 wide lol.) I can throw clean xups which I feel kind of get you used to getting your knees out of the way. Howd you guys get over the fear and what'd u try them on. I was also thinking learning taboggans might help. Any thoughts?

Currently relearning bar spins myself: I usually throw them out of a wedge, but Lately I have been throwing them out of a lip onto a box jump, I find the wedge a lot easier to maintain control of the bike.

Issues I have: Kicking the bike out, or not leveling out.

and to start, if you don't wanna "throw" the bars, just bus driver them and guide them around with one hand. It's a good way to start learning them.

Tips I've gotten: pinch the seat, cranks, ect with your calves(seems more difficult than people say) make sure you legs are straight but your chest is leaned over towards the bars to help with balance.

you could also try making the indoor bike, which I've heard is very helpful

I got over the fear by tryin em on grass, just start off taking one hand off, then move onto one handed xups then move onto bus drivers then go for the barspin.

Really tho when you start throwing em not a lot really happens other than getting ya shins smashed up, so I would highly recommend shin pads cuz your pedals will fuck you up.

Ya the bus driver would help I bet. And I have some basketball shin pads that work great. I think they're called mcdavids or something. There like a spandex type material and they're super comfy. I'd suggest you guys try em out if you don't have metal pedals

for me i learnt them one day on flat when i got a 360 down a 7 set in a line first try and i was so excited that i decided to try a big hop bar on flat and i got it so yeah my answer isn't the best but it's what happened for me

If your body is in the right position, you'll feel a lot more comfortable. Watch this video where I learn opposite bars:
I go into how to keep your body in the right place and how to keep your feet in the right spot to hang onto the bike in the air.
