Any artists here?

Ive put a thread up about wanting to learn how to play acoustic guitar but had no answers yet ! I would love to be able to master playing guitar

The guitar is one of the easiest musical instruments to learn on, man. Get one, get youtube, and you are set! Not hard, there has been this guitar movement popping up in my school before summer, everyone had one and kids were strumming out good shit after only a month, they were like, 11!

I write some stuff, not good with lyrics, can never get things to flow together and can come up with really catchy lines and then nothing for ages and end up with a load of random lines haha. I'm more into composer when o write something. I'll do a few riffs that I like then ill come up with a catchy bass line, like nirvana catchy but more like random hand haha. Then ill come up with a drum beat and there you have it haha. I love writing riffs can come up with some really nice fat rythm that os pretty catchy, leads I don't do much of, if I do its pretty simple. For me music is freedom and expression. I'm not the best guitarist, far from it but I love writing music. I mainly do alternative stuff with a tinge of skapunk and metal chucked in

I used to okay in a few bands, none ever worked out lol. Everyone just wanted to do covers, I always wanted to write our own stuff lol. Gave up with that now unless I get a new amp haha

We have some originals but we do a lot of covers too. Our last show is on Saturday because two of the three members are moving, so it's pretty much too late to write anything new at this point. I think we have like 7 or 8 originals.

I don't go for covers, but if i do copy something, I'm doing a parody instead!

Sometimes I am so lazy to write something, I force myself, and I end up with nothing, but sometimes inspiration comes and I have to ride the wave....

Who rides the wave long enough for a full song?

Unfortunately it's looking like a no. Our guitarist has been in Kentucky for like a month so we are only going to have like 3 days to practice before the show, probably not enough time to dial in a new song.

Also I am basically a rock star, Im in the best punk in the world right now, currently signed to collison course records. Bow down.

Yeah. I'll try and go for it, but I can't promise. It's the drummer who will probably say no even though every punk song has the same drum part.

Don't get me wrong, covers can be hella fun but I always enjoy playing stuff I've wrote more I love doing nirvana covers, so much fun to play particularly the stuff from bleach. Sucks that its your last show, hopefully you start a new band

I do the odd nirvana cover as they are so fun to play on guitar and pretty damn easy too!! I'm half way through writing a song at the moment, was just playing around with some power chords and have this awesome chorus riff and a nice punchy baseline. Think it'll be good when I'm done, very awesome sounding but still need to do the verses and lyrics and drug fills

I pretty much already have. We have a guitarist, some vocals, and a dude who will most likely play bass. All we really need is to find a drummer.

songs arent released yet still have some more to finish up before the label puts it out. its grindcore haha and no the lyrics are not sarcasm i really do hate crusties and feminists. my guitarist his girlfriend is friends with that duke university pornstar claiming to be a feminist and he suggested we should gangbang her for a music video haha.

I have played drums since 1976 and bass since 1982.

Currently I play in 2 bands:
Drums in a new wave/surf punk band called Go Robot, Go. Mix of Dick Dale, The Cars, Superchunk, Fugazi, April Wine, Wall Of Voodoo, Jan and Dean, Agent Orange.....

Bass in a crossover/thrash/punk band. Think 81-84 era Slayer/Metallica/Anthrax mixed with Minor Threat, Suicidal Tendencies, Madball, DRI, Aus Rotten...

both bands have stuff on iTunes...

I also write and arrange music for competitive (Drum Corps style; DCI; WGI) marching percussion groups, both indoor and outdoor.

i play drums in a grind/death band called jenkem. i also play bass in a space rock band called green meteor but we don't have anything online yet.

I used to play bass and guitar. Haven't picked either up for a long time but I'm tempted to start playing acoustic again.
I was also the vocalist in a punk band called sick to death for a while. We had a lot of influences between us. We all loved the misfits (danzig era only!), everyone apart from me was heavily into a.f.i but I thought they got worse with every album... TSOL were a pretty big influence, but I took most of my influence from early 80's hardcore/punk like 7 seconds, old beastie boys. So we were kind of dark, sketchy, 3 chord, shouty and fast.
I left because the guitarist stole my copy of walk among us which I got on import. He claimed he bought it from the same shop at non import cost. They all went on to form a band called November coming fire (taken from a samhain album title), they were a lot more modern hardcore/metal (fuck knows what you'd call it) with the old guitarist as the vocalist, they have some stuff on YouTube. They got signed and released a couple of albums.
The vocalist is still a close friend and is now in a very shouty loud band called black shapes. They're signed and have released a few bits and pieces and also have stuff on YouTube.

I want to start an acoustic folk band, with a bit of a punk influence (but not like a proper folk punk band). A bit like rumbleseat or anything else chuck ragan has been involved with.
I'd also like to be involved with a post hardcore/emo band. When I say emo, I mean the early stuff. Not that shitty girly metal all the girls jeans wearing scene kids used to listen to. I feel too old for that shit though.

I am terrible at guitar and haven't really touched it in a few years.

I doodle once in a while but nothing notable.

I am annoyingly specific with details when it comes to woodworking, however I lack the tools and space currently. Same goes for welding. And really anything I do working with my hands.
