First car

So we have picked up my first car and it needs wheels. It's a 2008 Toyota Matrix. (Not much, but whatever) We're going to our local tire shop to pick up some cheap wheels. Is there anything we need to look for or anything? Kinda lame question but I'm going to have to roll on this car for awhile until I find something I like. In the car we found four NOFX cd's including one that was called S&M airlines. Thought that was neat. And it was this or a datsun 510 that we missed by thirty minutes. Figured I'd ask people knowledgeable on cars before I buy stuff for one.

You got a 2008 make for a first car!? No one in my family has a car newer than 2005. You should be stoked even if you don't like the model. But yeah, i know pretty much nothing about cars.

I was supposed to get my dad's 2003 Toyota Camry and I would have to pay for insurance and gas at the age of 16. It was totally and now I get nothing. sad

You are lucky dude! Haha do you plan to upgrade stuff or keep it stock? I know nothing about cars so if you plan to upgrade it and you're going to tell me about it, keep it simple.

Just wheels probably. Out of default. The current ones are thrashed. I might pay to have it reupholstered. I already have a bike rack too. I'm not going to do performance upgrades at all. I just want it to look nice. If I can (this could actually happen) I'm going to have the dash redone. It's ugly and the fancy disk player/audio thing was installed improperly. So new interior if anything. After college I want a Hyundai veloster. That I'm going to modify. I like the way it looks, so I'm going for it. It'll probably be impractical, but fuck off. I want it, I'm going for it (if I can).

fuck the redoing the seats. just throw some seat covers on it if you don't like them. those are pretty good cars from what i've heard. they're just kinda cheap. like the interior and stuff. you can get the dash redone or you could probably go pull one out of a junkyard for way cheaper. listen for noises, check the fluids either every time or every other time you get gas to make sure it's not burning or leaking anything. congrats on the car homie

This. My buddy has one, had zero issues that I know of aside from him hitting a curb and losing a hub cap. He put like 60K miles on it in 2 years too, as a traveling salesman.
