I used to play piano. I hated every minute of it. My mom finally let me quit last year. It wasn't so much that i hated playing, but that i hated having lessons and having to practice every day.

lol did you have like one of those 60 year old teachers who teaches from the book the whole time?

Was in Orchestra in middle school sand I fuckinig loved it! I was join through a metal/"punk" phase around that time and was into being in a band and being raw and shit but orchestra taught me what REAL music is, how to read and play it and respect it.

Now I'm going to school for music and it's fun, annoying and challenging but I like it, it's like bmx and learning to play instruments really.

I had three different teachers over six years with my mom filing in in between teachers. The first two teachers were really great, but they didn't make me like to play. The third teacher was convinced she was gonna make me like piano, so she made me re-write some songs and just made it even more miserable. I think i eventually convinced her to just make it as painless as possible of an experience. She is still convinced i will hate myself for quitting when i'm 40. Kinda killed the urge to learn any other instruments. I like messing with drums when i get the chance, but i don't have any so.

Actually I'm leading my job already got new stuff in the works so I'm planning on getting a new setup soon o replace what I've given up before so a new guitar, bass, and especially a new drum set, didn't have the funds to fix my old drum set because I was more into bmx parts than drum parts but now ima be more balanced.

I got a bike that should last so drum parts can be first in line.

Voluntary band nerd. Everette alto sax, vito (I think) clarinet. Made it into honor band and all state, have had marching band practice all week, it's MUCH more physically demanding than bmx. I enjoy it. I'm the best in my grade. But now I'm a freshman. I already showed everyone including the drum major up in a way. Not like rude, but in a marching competition. Ima learn piano and guitar, and I'm aiming for drum major in highschool and college. I'm really good at it, so I'm going to work at it.

i like and appreciate both hard music and orchestral/jazz. jazz is crazy and the musicians that play it are insane, but some hard music, especially metal, can be insane also and some metal musicians have outright otherwordly chops. what school is it?

And seeing asy friend does bass well, one of our friends is an AMAZING vocalist, and I can flip through a couple instruments, I see a band in the future, and I listen to punk.

i played trumpet in not-marching band in 6th grade, and ill be a freshman when school starts again. lol i played drums a little in like 4th grade and im absolutely horrific now. i try to play my friends drums and i cant separate my left and right hands at all

Heh. I play in jazz band too. Last year I directed the band. It was MY band then. Now I'm nothing and I don't like it. I'm practicing twice as much now. To be leader.

Also, anyone here know how to put together a pentatonic scale? Can't remember.

music theory is not my forte, but i think its root, minor third, fourth, fifth, minor seventh, then octave. probably not though. or like G A# C D F G. Maybe, dont quote me on that.

I listen to a lot of pop punk and Ska like Set your goals, Real friends, blink, Streetlight Manifesto, Reel Big Fish, Alkaline Trio, Cant bear this party, New Found Glory, Goldfinger, Millencolin, Four Year Strong, Taking Back Sunday, Hold Tight, SIlverstein, Less than jake etc.

I've played guitar for a little less than 6 years, and play in a small band around here, biggest crowd of like 1,000 people probably. Place an Epi Les Paul through a Marshall tube combo (Haze 40w). I dabble a little in bass and drums too, also backup vocals w/ the band. Play in school jazz band too, jazz guitars fun, not as hard as you'd think, a lot of chords and improv. But yeah it's a lot of fun, instruments are dope af dawg

at 4g right now. im starting to get into singing/screaming a little bit but nothing crazy. yea dude i love four year strong so much and some of my other favorites are la dispute, descendents, bayside, comeback kid, sea haven, the wonder years, such gold, etc.

Started playing guitar a few years ago, instructor quit, I found BMX.

I can play like the first part of "Paint it Black" still.

Rad man! Got a goal size in mind?

Sweet! I used to listen to descendents and comeback kid and whatnot but I dont really listen to much punk or hardcore anymore. Such Gold is soo good. I'm almost half tempted to go to warped tour since theres some bands i like this year like Less than jake, FYS, Tdwp, The Story so far, Saves the day, anberlin, real friends etc. haha

I have been playing guitar for 5 years, mostly play punk and grunge music (nirvana etc...)

My set up :

Squier Stratocaster
(soon to be) Fender Mustang III v2 amp
Lag T66DCE acoustic guitar
Boss OD20 - distortion/overdrive pedal
Boss Super Chorus

I grew up loving all kinds of rock, mainly hard rock/metal. I started learning how to play guitar by myself online about 4 months ago or so. I have both an acoustic and an electric guitar. My acoustic is some Carlos, and my electric setup is a Fender Squire with a Fender Mustang V2 amp. Like right at the moment, I'm still getting the hang of really basic shit like palm muting and such. And I'm gradually building up my picking speed, cause it's definitely not something you get good at from the get go.

i play bass and drums in a few bands (mostly extreme metal). i'm way better at music than bmx but they're my major passions. i used to do vocals (only screaming, i can't actually sing) in metal bands too. i'm broke right now because i'm in the process of paying off my dream bass (a rickenbacker) but i also have an esp and fender p-bass. for drums i collect vintage premier kits. my dad is a super hardcore jazz drummer so i was raised surrounded by all sorts of musicians of varying genres.

(Sorry for "bragging", but its what the OP asked for)

Back on topic: I play trumpet, cello, drums, screw around on keyboard and guitar, and kind of play bass (tabs and figuring stuff out). I also had plans to start like 2 bands at different times, but due to the stupidity of some people, it never happened. Now I want to make a one person band lol. I suck at BMX, so music is more of a "home".

Set up: Yamaha Electronic drum set
Ibanez SR300 bass (wanting a Rickenbacker 4001)
Korg DS-8 keyboard
Fender Squire
Both bass and guitar multi-effects pedals
With a mixer hooked up to the drum set PA system

Otherwise I love rock music, from blues-rock (The Black Keys), to classic rock (Rush and Pink Floyd), all the way to heavy metal, and like techno-rock (Nine Inch Nails). And I cant stand any rap/pop sh*t.
