If I just buy general admission tickets, does that get me into the actual events?

Not sure how it's going to work there but when it was in LA they had LA live which was just like a party type thing where they had pros sign stuff and giveaways which was free and you had to buy tickets to the event (only the one event), if there was more events scheduled at the venue around the time the event yoy bought the ticket for you could also go into those sometimes
