U may damage the speakers. U can more likely cause damage to speakers under powering them

you cant damage your speaker by underpowering them, thats a myth

Most speakers get blown from being underpowered its not good for them ask at your local audio place they'll let you know me and my buddies have been hooking up car sound systems for time

its not a myth, i live on dub jungle and drum n bass and am learning to mix. i need to know about speakers and sound system setups. its not a myth heres an eg.


3 litre car, 1 litre car. drive round a track at 80? mph constant. the 3 litre car will handle it easy, the little car might be worn or burned out because its being over worked. its like that with speakers. if u try and over work the speakers with in sufficient power its gunna blow

the only reason people blow there speakers is because they send clipped signals to them. and what you were saying was true then every time you lower the volume they would blow.

no matter how loud it is. the driver needs to be able to move the speaker. the more wattage a speaker is, the bigger it is. if ur trying to move a 12 inch sub thatrs 700w with 500, the driver is being over worked thus blowing the driver
