As a beginner with filming, what kind of Video Camera should I buy?

a one chip miniDV camera for around 50 bucks on ebay. I'd go with sony.
That's what I was thinking.
I started with a one chip Sony but there are a lot of cheap 3-chip Panasonics that should be considered too. it just depends how much you want to spend. I upgraded to a Panasonic GS-320 which is a little more expensive, but its still at a consumer based price and you will be much happier with it in the long run.
yeah the Panasonic GS-320 3ccd are good, but def harder to work with than a full on 3chip 3ccd camera. you can prob find a decent gs-320 pretty cheap prob around $200-300, read the owners manual. then work your way up to a full on 3ccd. I found it easier to work with camera with as many settings as possible so you can move up the ladder. You wouldn't buy a K-mart bike if you wanted to start jumping? Quality will outlast your ambitions and if you don't stay in it, it will be easier to sell.
