I started a new thread hoping that someone still uses this forum. What I've seen its been dead for a few years. I've been skateboarding for about 10 years and I recently moved over to bmx. I know about most of the spots in fayetteville. I'm just looking for some people to ride with. If anyone out there still uses this website hmu on here.

Where do yall ride in Fay? Closest track I know of is Capital City BMX in Raleigh although my cousin says he used to ride somewhere off I-95 near Clinton.

I don't ride any tracks. Just a few street spots and the omni trails.

If you enjoy riding trails, you can probably catch some people at omni on the weekend. Especially when the weather starts getting better. Unfortunately, if some new people don't step up and start digging, I can't imagine that place being ridable for much longer.

Went down and found the trails at the omni, looks like yall have done a lot of work out there. Loads of buckets and stuff sitting out, I guess those are the tools D.E.T. was talking about (in another post). There was a good amount of standing water in low spots. Saw some vids on youtube of people riding the trails. Some friends told me there was a trail at Methodist college you could bike on but i haven't been there. Between walmart and zorbas in hope mills there is an abandoned trailer park. Not sure whose it is or if their getting ready to develop it but its been sitting there vacant for a long while now. Mazarick park has some trails too, its out past FTCC, dont know if something can be started out there or not.

D.E.T., is the pic for your profile in Fay? Is that part or did it used to be a part of the omni trails?

Yeah, my profile picture is from omni. It is the main line circa early 2011, back when I was out there all the time taking care of things. As I'm sure you noticed when you where out there, the trails are in pretty bad shape now. I stopped digging there on a regular basis years ago, and no one really stepped up. Far too many people know about the spot, and they all just want to ride and not dig. So that makes it pretty hard to get anything done out there.

Yea I've been to omni a bunch of times and yea like you said it's pretty much gone to shit. There's like 1 or 2 good lines left. Every time I go out there something is changed but the last time I went I was happy to see rake marks in the ground and there was tools out there so someone's trying. I met this guy out there all I'm gonna say about his name is its Roy. He was pretty chill and he was telling me he's been going out there since that place started up and I'm really looking forward to riding out there with him and other regulars out there.

|

The tools have been out there for a while. I'm surprised no one has taken them, with the way stuff disappears out there. The last time any work was done out there was late last year. And by work, I mean any kind of substantial digging. I saw the rake marks over the weekend. It was nice to see that someone took the time to clean up a bit. I also saw tire marks too, which is ridiculous, since it hasn't been dry enough to ride out there all year. Roy is a good guy. He has seen that place go through quite a few changes.

About the trailer park behind zorbas I know exactly where you're talking about. I've been back there a few times. I think it would be a great place to start some trails. I've thought about it a few times but I don't have anyone to help me. I'm the only one of my friends who rides. But I'm down to dig and maintain. I'll just need someone to help me and show me what to do cause I have no idea what I'm doing. Lol. The only thing I do at omni is sweep all the leaves and pine straw off the lines and rake the damp parts so they will displace water and dry out.

Yeah, I though that place could be pretty promising. Although its all open and easy to access with motorbikes. Otherwise that could be a nice area. Im no stranger to physical labor. My main shortcoming will just be time. I saw broken glass and other debris, it might take a day to clean and prep before digging started.

Asked around and the best I can tell is the land was sold to Lowes but they decided not to build there because the economy went south. So chances are good no one will run out and shoot us for building trails on the land (im joking). The land is for sale right now.

Yea a few years back I heard setting sbout that but I figured it wasn't true because it never happened. I'm down to dig if we can get enough people that are willing to dig too.

If anyone has any interest in digging at omni, it looks like we're going to make an attempt to get it running good again. I'm hoping we can find atleast a couple more people that are interested in helping out. We should be out there tomorrow morning, if anyone wants to stop by and lend a hand.

How did the dig go? I couldn't make it out Saturday. i didn't get done till after 7pm. I doubt it will dry out much for this weekend but is the plan to hit it again this coming Saturday morning? I went out towards hope mills and they are just building a parking lot at hope mills park...although i thought some of the work was to fix the flooding problem they have when it rains.

It went pretty good. We cleaned up a decent amount of the trash that had started to accumulate out there, and started getting carpet and tarps out from under leaves and what not. Just making an attempt to not have it looking so trashy. We also started rebuilding the first jump after the roll in area, and dug some new drainage in front of it, to help alleviate standing water. I was hoping to get some work done on Sunday too, but the weather was less than cooperative. One of the main things we want to focus on, is getting the drainage situation out there under control. Standing water is a huge issue, thanks to lazy diggers in the past not being smart about how they got dirt.

Weather permitting, we should be out there next Saturday as well. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks. Hopefully the coming weekend isnt as busy for me.

Found a nice spot for some trails. It's on Cumberland road right before George Owen behind an Arab store. It's an old abandon trailer park. It doesn't look like it's gonna be anythin my in the near future but I'm gonna do a little bit of homework before I invest any time into it.

|

3/4/2015 10:11 PM

Is that on the right side of the road as your heading down Cumberland? There look to be some big open areas there. I still like the place in Hope Mills though.

We're still planning to work at omni this Saturday. Hopefully, if we can get enough regulars out there, it will cut down on the bs. It's just been two of us so far, but I think some more people are coming out this weekend.

Looks like it should be nice too.

Hey any chance I can get the exact location of this place? I got out of riding when I joined the mil, but want to start digging and riding again, just need a place

If you google "omni trails" there is an old facebook event page that comes up with the address. The trails are located in the woods behind the building. We are currently rebuilding, so not much is running.

The Godfather. Miss you bud. I learned a lot from you in our short time together. Hopefully I'll get up there again this fall. I've missed you the last two trips I made up there.
