Perris Benegas - one of the leading ladies in the BMX game - announced that she is gay via an emotion-filled statement on Instagram -
“This is going to be a long post because it's something that has been weighing heavy on my heart.
My whole life I've been searching for happiness, while forcefully suppressing who I really was, moreso, who I really AM. My opening line with close friends and family for the past month or so has been "so, I've been living a lie all my life"... I felt that was the best way to break into an honest conversation of telling my friends, family and love ones that I'm gay.
The fear of letting the world know, the sleepless nights I've had thinking of how this will affect my family, friendships or sponsorships... It made me into a very unhappy and depressed person because the weight of carrying this "secret" became increasingly heavier by the week.
In having these heart to heart conversations, not one person expressed a single negative thing. Instead, they were happy and relieved a "Happy Perris" was finally here and present. I was reminded that I owed the world no explanation or announcement. That if I wanted to, and when I wanted to, I should do it my way.
I'm telling you this not for acceptance or comment, but to share my story of inner peace, relief, happiness, clarity and kindness. This is the hardest thing I have ever faced. Thank you to my family and friends who knew and still accepted me, for me. For the first time ever, I'm extremely excited to live my life FREE and to be wholeheartedly ME.”
With The Olympics right around the corner - and Perris likely representing the USA in the event - the happiness she mentions likely couldn't have come at a better time.
Congrats to Perris on getting this out there, having an awesome dog, and doing damn good tabletops!

So again, what is the purpose of these sexual orientation posts? Is this the new TMZ?
Is there a reason these pros need personal gratification and approval for letting the world know through social media they have a specific sexual preference? Todays culture has shaped a forced acceptance on peoples sexual preference whether in agreement or disagreement. It is ignorant to think sponsors would all of a sudden dump someone for these reasons. There is proven backlash that happens whenever anyone questions the sexuality of someone that isn't straight. And you have mostly the same sponsors as Corey.
Same exact thing with Corey Walsh, did she want to start posting photos of kissing girls or something? I get it if you life like most pros revolves around social media now, only getting gratification from the likes and followers. But when can we have a conversation that a personal private thing can be kept a personal private thing? Why must everything personal be for the public to indulge in? If your "friends, family, and loved ones" are just this, you probably have a phone number you can txt or call. Zoom chats are very popular now a days too. Seems like peeps just want to start using the rainbow emoji.
The constant need to post about sexual orientation instead of BMX seems to be for the views and to pay the bills.

Here's why it matters, in better, more polite wording than I feel like anyone deserves:

If its doesn't matter to you, then why the wall of text? You clearly DO CARE, but what about?
From your post:
"Todays culture has shaped a forced acceptance on peoples sexual preference whether in agreement or disagreement."
So it sounds like you don't like being confronted with any orientation that isn't your own.
You say that you're being "forced" into "acceptance" whether you are in "agreement or disagreement", however, as the majority, OUR sexuality is forced on everyone else - but you don't mention that. You dont mention that OUR orientation has been forced on others their entire lives, not just for the five minutes you spent being upset at a post on Vital BMX, lolol
The discomfort you feel being "forced" to acknowledge Perris and Corey's orientation is probably significantly less than the discomfort that Perris and Corey went through while closeted.
Maybe think a bit next time about what you're actually saying, because you come off tone deaf as heck, and also not terribly smart in your attempts at logic.
Good luck, bro. Hope you get your feelings sorted out. We're here for you if you wanna share anything. Anything at all...

So my statements are untrue? Is BMX now just going to focus around sexual preference?
No one closeted anyone, and coming out is a personal thing, not something that you need a platform to post on to get likes and comments as "support". This superficial day and age drives the need for attention, and the need to go public only supports this argument. Additionally the need to post about it on BMX websites to bring attention to the matter, whether good or bad is just a ploy to pull ad revenue for the website creators. Taking advantage of others is how most all businesses survive. And please go ahead and argue against that. Why else do all big corporations put a rainbow logo up for June? All about the money, since they know it is a pop culture thing people buy into. Hell Target make onesies for babies that promote LGBQ Pride, so it is okay to sexualize children because some folks don't want their feelings hurt? Sorry for adding breaks in my last comment, here is the wall of text you wanted.

Ah shit. Right on. Sorry. Itchy trigger over here. I have a hard time understanding why anyone isn't just patently supportive while also just moving along with their life.
To stop and comment about why its not comment worthy just kinda illustrates why its ALBSLOTELY NEWSWORTHY.
Clearly folks still have a ways to go re: acceptance.
But I'm just a dude, man. I dunno.
