RIP, Hiro Tsuchida

Chicago-based flatlander / BMX lifer Hiro Tsuchida passed away earlier this week from a heart attack while playing basketball with his son.

I didn't know Hiro personally, but - by reputation - Hiro was an asset to BMX who was loved by many.

Here's what Chad DeGroot had to say about Hiro's passing -

"My Friend Hiro Tsuchida passed away yesterday playing basketball with his son. RIP bubs. Never easy to hear a friend passes and this way is pretty horrible for his son to see. Remember driving 3 hours to Chicago to stay at your house and watch new BMX videos as you took notes with a pen and paper. You never had a bank as the drawer with your clothes was your bank. Very confused at this method of banking. Paid us in cash for shows we did. Always had a million questions which led into more questions. Held it down with pride for Chicago. Rode with a smile always. You were a great father, friend, and rider. Miss you and wish we could have ridden one last time for memories sake. I'm a grown man with tears. RIP Hiro and I'm gonna pour one out for my homie tonight."

Our thoughts are with Hiro's family and friends during this difficult time.
