UCI Urban World Championships set for June in Montpellier, France

Quite the surprising - and welcome - announcement coming from the UCI today. The Urban World Championships are returning for 2021 and they'll be taking place in Montpellier, France from June 4th through June 8th.

Not much additional information is available yet, but it will be interesting to see the game plan - considering COVID protocols and travel restrictions.

We'll keep you posted as more on this becomes available, but - most importantly - hell yeah!

i hope it happens, but i think it's a 50/50 chance. it's a WK, so it's known who can go, but it's still over 100 riders in total. small groups and everyone staying in their bubble and testing everyday. We need events like this, but we also need to make it safe, and France is anything but safe now.

My guess is small competitor list, everyone has their own "rest" spot around the course, only a couple riders at a time on the course, masks likely needed for riding (unless outside, but maybe even then). I could also see a vaccine requirement early into having events like this. Probably few to no spectators too.

At the very least it is a good thing to see events starting to be looked into, even if they are not the same as they once were.
