Eastern Fork - Eurobike 2012 - BMX Pictures - Vital BMX

Tired of relatively fragile die-cast dropouts, they hydroformed the fork legs into the shape shown here. After the tubes have been drawn out into the final shape, they weld the end of the tube and then grind it down smooth for the finished look.

Since the dropout area can now handle the abuse, all the stress will travel to the steerer and leg junction, and break there, if it isn't beefed up as well.

actually think these look so clean. and they're probably strong. they're no different to odyssey directors really. am i the only person who actually wants to try these?

I suppose the fact they are all one piece is good, but the bottom of the actual legs is partly dropout thick, which I would of though would cause problems. Thing is, no one will ever know if they were a good idea, because they are eastern so no one will dare try them.

why is everyone bashing it already. just because its eastern? if odyssey did this people would be all over this. its innovation, which everyone likes to see. lets wait until it fails to bash it

did that fork ever break? usually forks break at the dropout piece. these dropouts are hydro formed into the leg so in theory it should be stronger as long as they didn't skimp out on the material used in the legs. no one will know untill people start using these
