Vital BMX First Look: Duo Grips Click the image to see more photos of the Duo grips and the cool packaging they come in.

Steve Buddendeck and Cory Muth have been heavily involved in the BMX industry for years, and they recently teamed up with Chris Doyle to create a new brand called Duo. Buddendeck says the plan for Duo is to produce grips and tires, and he sent us a batch of signature grips to check out from Doyle and Scotty Cranmer. Rather than just show you the grips, we asked Buddendeck a bit about what makes Duo tick.

Of all the different items you can make in BMX, what was the attraction to grips?
We wanted to create something that was simple, interesting to design, and where we could put some thought into the packaging.

Duo grips with packaging Who is involved in the business-side of the company, and who is on the team?
Chris Doyle, Cory Muth, and I are partners in Duo. Cory and I have been worked with a lot of different companies in BMX and wanted to create something with our ideas unfiltered. We've known Doyle for ten years and asked if he wanted to be a part of it. The team consists of Corey Bohan, Scotty Cranmer, Chris Doyle, and Van Homan.

How did you decide who to put on the team?
Style, respect, credibility, and fun. We had some conversations about a dream team, made some calls, and surprisingly it came together very close to what we planned. There's one rider who wanted to ride for us, but couldn't.

Are there plans for more parts in the future?
No. We want to keep it simple with just grips and eventually tires. We'll likely make some T-shirts and we do have a Corey Bohan Limited New Era 5950 fitted hat coming out this spring. The plan for Duo has always been to keep it focused and make some interesting stuff.
