Hoffman Bikes

  • The Good:

Good value for the money, works well once dialed in, great fit for my 6yr old who isn't tall enough for a 20". Bike was partially assembled when delivered. Mat Hoffman hand-signed the card that came with the bike.

    The Bad:

Plastic chain guard (which was installed from the factory) didn't fit or wasn't installed properly and rubbed the crank; I just removed it.
Headset and wheel bearings were extremely tight/rough; I had to adjust all. I could not adjust rear wheel bearings on one side because I didn't have a thin/special wrench to separate the inner cone from the nut.
No front brake; I ordered/installed separately.
The freewheel operation is rough/noisy; not what I'm used to from Shimano freewheels from bikes in the 1980s.

Overall Review: Overall, a good investment for my son. This is his 2nd bike (1st bike was a smaller Trek with training wheels which we later removed). Due to items in "the bad" section, it took a long time to get the bike set up and dialed in.

  • The Good:

Heat treated dropouts, gyro tabs, very responsive frame. Seriously tough frame.

    The Bad:

Dropouts are tiny, which is a problem for people who use freewheels (My wheels originally came off my old bike, which had a 16t freewheel on it), because there's gonna be some slack that you can't get rid of without chain tensioners (I mean, you can get rid of it, but it's just gonna slip forward anyways so, yeah), and, surprise surprise, you can't put any on. However, if you have a cassette like a 9T or something, then something interesting is gonna happen. Basically, to remove the slack you have to install the wheel and remove as many links as possible, however, this means that when your tire pops, you're gonna need a chainbreaker handy. It can be done without one but it's a bitch to do so. Even then I'd still recommend the frame. Brake mounts are an absolute pain, what I did was just take some red threadlock and tightened them onto the frame as tight as possible, however this probably isn't a concern for you if you ride brakeless.

Overall Review: I got this frame around Christmas time for myself at half off over from planetbmx. I got the frame in black and it's quite a good frame. It's a middle ground weight, but it's on the lighter end of that ground. Very responsive frame, the dropouts are tiny which can be good but is also bad which i...

  • The Good:

    -Quite Strong
    -Cheap
    -Looks simple

    The Bad:

    -Heavier than most rims
-Not gonna be as strong as a 7KA or Roll/Ribcage

Overall Review: Rode a 48 spoke Generator in the back for 2 years. Never trued it or tightened it. It was still almost perfectly straight by the time I retired the wheel. The spokes were just pretty loose.

    The Bad:

  • The Good:

    its a really light bike

    The Bad:

mostly everything, i bent the cranks really fast, the bars feel horrid, the starnut in the fork always breaks, the headset creaks, the pedals suck, the wheels break easy and the spokes loosen

Overall Review: i wouldnt buy this if i was you its not worth the money get a wethepeople or sumit

  • The Good:

Matt Hoffman rides one so u know its gonna hold up. Awsome geometry, finish and light weight.

    The Bad:

My stupid self stripping the tab screw while putting it together.

Overall Review: I have a blue 20.25 Condor and this frame is sweet. I normally ride a 20.5 frame and this frame fits me really well and im 5'7". This frame is built well and i do agree about the dropouts being long cause i like to run my back rim all the way up with a large tire. My bike setup consist of 4 pegs...

  • The Good:

    Pretty solid wheel.

    The Bad:

The spokes loosen so freckin easily.

Overall Review: Dont get this wheel its sucks.

  • The Good:

Picked a almost new one up a few months ago and it has instantly become my favorite frame, my "daily" if you will lol. Strong as f*ck and I thrash it just about every day. I love the feel and geometry of it and even though it's a few years older than some of my other frames it's still just as advanced and feels perfect!

    The Bad:

Nothing! I would like if it had a little wider stays to run a wider rear tire, my 2.25's and 2.3's don't fit if it's slammed, so a 2.1 is the perfect size for it.

Overall Review: 14 out of 10, wish they kept making it!

  • The Good:

small, look cool, come in a decent amount of colors, keeps your chain tight.

    The Bad:

doesn't work on all chains and dropouts. I had to get an odyssey bluebird chain for it to work.

Overall Review: overall its worth a buy. With these handy little devices I never have to constantly put my wheel back after each sesshion

  • The Good:

I bought the complete wheel brand new for $70, Maybe because it was the 48. It taught me how to get really good at trueing wheels.

    The Bad:

It keeps going out of true. After the first 5 trues it now stays true.

Overall Review: I rode this rear wheel for one day at Rays'. It was true when I put it on in the parking lot. Buy the time I left it had a 3/16 side to side, and an 1/8 up and down wobble. I got it home and trued it. The next time I rode my mini ramp for a combined time of an hour, and it was out of true again....

  • The Good:

Soft, long and grippy. It is a grip.

    The Bad:

Dont last long, and I dont like thin grips. Bad part is the metal washers rattle.

Overall Review: I stopped the rattling by rolling up some electrical tape sticky side out and put it in-between the washer and bar end. Not a problem with it since. It is a grip. Grab one and see if it makes you happy to hold. If it does, get it. If it doesn't, grab another.

  • The Good:

    Pretty soft, non slippiry

    The Bad:

gives bad blisters and wear down fast

  • The Good:

Comes in 2 sizes, beautiful welds and BB machining, went together easily, classic Condor design with modern geometry and tech.

    The Bad:

Long dropouts aren't friendly for street.

Overall Review: I got the shorter one but I have also ridden the long version. Frame went together nicely, good balance when riding. Decals under clearcoat which is a bonus on this bike as it is purchased for the looks and heritage. You can set the rear axle extra long for high speed stability. This is a gr...

  • The Good:

Small and light weight. They come with 3 different length allen bolts.

    The Bad:

everyone including skaters ask me why I use them. My friend tried using them on his B-rad frame and they didn't work. He has to get a half link for his chain to get them to work.

Overall Review: These work great with my chain, and drop out length. Every time I have to do any work on my rear wheel I just set the tension, and tighten my bolts. The rear wheel never slips on me.
